Colleen Bowers, OTR/L
Geriatric Care Manager

Colleen received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University in 1986. Colleen began her career at the Rehabilitation institute of Chicago (RIC) treating neurological disorders. During her years at RIC, she became a Senior Clinical Therapist, supervised students, and presented at the National Stoke Conference.

 

Colleen has 37 years of clinical experience as well as management roles. She worked for Cancer Treatment Centers of America and developed the Motion For Life clinical program as well as the Lymphedema program in Zion, IL. Colleen has worked in nearly all therapy settings including Acute Care hospitals, Rehabilitation, Outpatient, Home Health, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and most recently, Assisted living and Memory Care communities. Colleen has great passion and expertise with Alzheimers and Dementia, implementing therapeutic approaches to preserve brain function, slow progression of the disease process and promote the highest level of function possible. She has expertise in home assessments, modifying the home environment to promote safety and independence, recommending appropriate assistive devices and equipment, and extensive caretaker training for the highest level of care in any setting.

 

Colleen has worked in the GA area for the last 24 years developing knowledge of healthcare facilities using an interdisciplinary approach to all patient care. She has a passion to assist patients and their families navigate this ever changing healthcare system and its many challenges.

 

Colleen and her husband raised three wonderful women, and enjoy spending as much time traveling with them as possible. She also loves to swim, read, and care for her brother and mother.
